As a community orchestra, SLJO members are an enthusiastic and dedicated group who enjoy performing in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
While some of our players are very experienced big band musicians and jazz soloists, many of us were new to this style of music or had not performed in public.
As we have such a range of experience in the group, there is no obligation on anyone to perform solos; however, opportunities are there if you’d like to do so and players are encouraged to develop their abilities in this very supportive environment.
